Saw the most beautiful chalk board at Loads of Living yesterday. Of course it was priced ridiculously, but it was seriously rad and would have looked even radder at the entrance to my kitchen. And then if I had it, I could dream about being skilled enough to do cool things on it like Dana Tanamachi from New York does ... all by hand

The designer-wanna-be in me seriously loves it when packaging is done properly.

Cupcake Crazeeeee

Now here’s something that’s bound to brighten up any Monday.
Unless, of course, you’re trying to watch what you eat after an over-indulgent weekend … but who doesn’t LOVE cupcakes.
Especially when they look this nom nom.
And trust me, they taste pretty dam amazing too. We had some at work last week, and we've got a batch of Winne The Pooh inspired goodies arriving on Wednesday for a birthday celebration.

Call Tamara - from Durban North - if you need to impress at a dinner party or if you just want to scoff your face full of deliciousness

I’ve just figured out what this sad and heavy feeling in my heart is – every Monday morning as I drive to work. It’s home-sickness.

After a mellow 2 days of chilling, braaing and shopping with friends, lunching with old colleagues, visiting family and just pottering around the house like a happily married pensioner duo … driving away from home on a Monday morning makes me home sick.

So today’s task: get rid of this feeling.

sorry for lack of reference on this super cool image

Madame Zingara Rocks The Socks Off

We took my sis out for her 30th birthday last night - starting with cocktails at the Oyster Box (because she's never been: shock, horror, i know), and then stumbled on over to the outrageously fun Madame Zingara. We had sucha  fabulous evening and were so impressed. The staff were all dressed up and in character; loud and in your face, the food was scrumptious, the drinks were super strong, and my personal favourite was the little store that greeted me upon entrance. Fancy masks, feather bands, stick-on mustaches, giant tiaras, willy warmers and a whole lot more goodies that are perfect for our dress up draw at home.

Needless to say, I swiped that little card of ours. I swiped it good and proper.
I was, however, reluctant to buying a muff for R60.

Not sure if there are any shows still available, but you should try.

Wall Art

The Bestest and I went walk-abouts in Hillcrest on Saturday morning to kill some time while we waited to meet the dressmaker. Strolling from shop to shop around the Heritage Market and surrounds, we decided to pop into Wetherleys because neither of us had been in there for yonks.

What a shit hole. Seriously. I now remember why I never pop in there, and it’s not just because I can’t afford anything. The place is an absolute mess. Things are broken and left lying desecrated in the cobweb filled corners. And the further into the store you go, the more shit-hole-ish it becomes. It looks like they’re half way through packing up and moving out. Things are half unwrapped, mirrors are cracked, teddy bears lie with their faces up each others bums and to say that it’s a décor maze is a little bit of an understatement. What a sad sad store. Poor Wetherly’s Hillcrest.

But on the up side, I did manage to take some snaps of these gorgeous pencil wall drawings in the kiddies section. Pity they're tucked away in the dingy poepal of the store.

sorry for the terrible quality pics - I'm working on the fee-arn-say to get me an iPhone
