The Week of Crapness

Ok so a guy ate another guys face this week, somewhere on the side of the highway in Miami. A young girl from Danville High School has disappeared, a victim to either human trafficking or some scary cult type thing. Two people set themselves alight somewhere in the Middle East today. Our president has lost his voice, er, or should I say, his balls! And the Queen is officially getting old.

To say it's been a kaka week is no lie.
But on a lighter note, there’s a rumour that petrol may drop by at least 50c! If that doesn’t cheer you up, here are some pretty random pictures to take your mind off things.

The Way Of The Bro

Ever had one of those days when you feel like you lack aim or purpose, moving for no particular reason, with no particular direction, looking for guidance, only to be left wanting …

Nope. Me neither.
Girls are pretty rad.
We don’t have days like that; we know what we want and how to do it.

And of course now I’m just being completely ridiculous because we all know that’s not entirely true.

What is true though, is that this is a flipping cool website right here, and I wish there was a chick version just like it.  For daily Brotips that are seriously funny, seriously useful and everything in between.

The Art of Paper Cutting

The other night I spent hours trying to master the art of cutting paper. Easy enough, right?
Not in the least actually.
I was doing crafts for a friend who needed lots of moustaches cut out of semi-sturdy board. I’d broken my cutting tool and sliced off more than I could chew! Who would have thought cutting round the corners was so darn tricky.

Now here’s a lady – Annie Sklaver - who knows her stuff.
Either that or she’s got some serious nifty tools that I need to get my hands on.

Some really beautiful and unique stuff. Would look amazing box-framed in a kiddies room.  Check it out here

DIY-time

Ok so operation CREATIVE SPACE is underway.

My first task was to find someone who knows how to put up shelves without bringing down walls, who can plaster up holes from feeble earlier drilling attempts and who can put up with my “a little to the left … no actually I want it over here. Maybe down a bit … and then up a little more” style of direction.

Along comes the Norwegian uncle, handy man of note.
I’ve got him penciled in for the whole of next weekend. Which gives me just about enough time to think about what the heck I want him to do.

I know I want shelves all over the place,
I know I need my new pin board stuck up somewhere, and
I know I need my not-so-new craft table (Christmas pressie from the hubsie that’s just been abandoned in the garage) to find a home so I can start, well, er, crafting I guess!

Here’s my pin board plan. It's the big cream and grey thing in the centre.
And some pretty reference to get the ideas sparked.
Maybe a week isn’t enough time after all, is it.

Valley Run for The Unlimited Child

Feel like doing something worthwhile today?
Good.
I’ve got just the thing for you.

Did you know that if children do not receive the correct stimulation between the age of 0 and 5, such as learning colours and shapes through educational toys, parts of their brain will wither and die. It’s a process that is not only irreversible, but also completely avoidable.

This is where you come in.

On the 1st of June 32 runners will embark on a 112km Trail Run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban in the hopes of raising funds to educate, support and care for children between the ages of 0-5 - an initiative started by The Unlimited Child.
The target is R80 000. At present they have managed to raise R34 447. But with only 10 days to go, they need your help. The runners, and the kids.

Donating is super easy.
Go to the GivenGain website and hit the big red shiny donate button.
Look … I’ve made it even easier for you.
Just click HERE

The best part of it all is that every single cent donated will go directly towards buying toys, educating caregivers and providing crèches for these helpless little cherubs.

Thanks in advance for helping to make a difference.

Ink Art

Another treat from thisiscolossal.com
Beautiful shots by Italian photographer Alberto Sevaso.
I'm not sure if I want to eat them or frame them.
You can see more of his brilliant stuff here

thisiscolossal.com is my go-to place when I’m looking for something seriously cool and inspirational; Funny pictures, clever photography, inspiring stories and beautiful designs.  It’s the perfect “work-is-slowing-down-and-it’s-not-quite-home-time-but-i-deserve-the-break-anyways kind of website!

Found these gale force wind shots on there. Too funny!

Run Laugh Live

I’ve mentioned my new found obsession with the sexy Lorna Jane gym kit before, but I’d never been to their website; Move Nourish Believe.
It’s super cool and totally girly. But I’m a girl, so I’m ok with that.
Filled with great motivational pictures, cool sayings and loads of healthy stuff, I think I could get hooked.

Vintage Inspiration

Instagram seems to be all the rage these days.
Dam you people with the brains to get out of the BlackBerry craze and over to the super cool, super stylish iPod family!
And dam my 2 year contract that I can’t get out of.
SIGH!

These images aren’t instagrams but they remind me of them, they way they look all vintage and burnt around the edges. Love them. They remind me of the good old days ... er,  when I was too young to remember anything!?
