I am my mother’s child.
It has become clear to me, now more than ever, that I’m JUST like her.

My mother ...
- who spent 4 sleep-less nights in 1997, crying over the death of Princess Diana.
- who subscribes to Hello! Magazine only to see what her friends “The Royals” have been up to.
- who has taken the day off work tomorrow, bought 4 packets of giant cheese curls, a 2 L gingerbeer, a gazillion strawberries and some cheap Champagne … to watch the Royal Wedding.
- who is absolutely and completely obsessed.

And so am I.

I’m not sure if it’s because I got engaged around the same time as they did, or if it’s just years of mumsies obsessive compulsive royal disorder that’s rubbing off on me … but I’m hooked. I’ve even managed to convince the boss man to give us a half-day tomorrow so we can watch it. YAY!

I’ve been following the whole thing on sky news since they got engaged. I know it sounds a little sordid, but there’s just something about them that is so intriguing. I guess it’s the whole “princess’ vibe and maybe it’s a little bit of jealousy too. Not that I’d ever want to marry William. He looks like a complete bore.  But you know what I mean.

I can’t wait to see her for the first time.
I may even cry.

Work-Aholic? I think not.

I think it’s safe to say that today, I am one of about 50 South Africans, who are stuck at work on this glorious Tuesday! Everyone else was smart enough to put in their leave and take advantage of these long weekends. I hope the heavens open and it starts raining big balls of mushy porridge on you all. Buggery! I guess even if I had acted quickly, I would never have gotten these days off – what with -15 days leave after only 6 months with the company! Oopsie.

So, while all my friends are at the beach enjoying life, I’m here, at my desk, doing absolutely no work at all.  Instead, I’m busy trying to write my MC speech for a good friend’s wedding this Saturday. Every 2 minutes or so I get really excited at the prospect of being a female MC at her special wedding. Big role and bigger responsibility, with a very tough crowd to control and please. But a great honour nonetheless.

Then every other 2 minutes I say to myself? “Self … why in the name of Gucci did you ever agree to do this?!?!?!?!”

Eish! I must remember to get some rescue drops. They taste just like tequila, so should calm my nerves down to a flat panic. Oh good grief, just thinking about it gives me chicken flesh. Eeeeek.

Need a distraction! IMMEDIATELY!

Ok found one.

Love this site. You can always discover the coolest bits, bobs and links.
Some pretty, some daft and some completely arb.
Like these:

Some more juicy bits by Eduardo Recife.
He designs his own fonts and typefaces.
Love Love Love

Eduardo Recife is one of my most favouritist illustrator slash crayon monkey slash cut and paste mastermind, like, EVER! And how exciting that he’s got some new stuff up on his website here. It’s all a bit spooky, with vintage children and dolls and weird cut outs of weird people, but it’s also a bit brilliant. I think you either like it or you don’t. And I really do!

Another brilliant ad – one of my all time favourites.

Rainbow Roses

Ever heard of rainbow roses?
Nope … me neither.

But they exist, and I can’t make up my mind as to whether they’re serioulsy over the top queen of kitsch or really cool and possibly a gorgeously perfect fit to my colour-crazy wedding plans?! Hmmmm.

I'm confused

What a really cool, really quirky campaign done by none other than French Connection United Kingdom. As a writer, I love the headlines. They’re so bizarre - what's not to love. They're the kind of phrases you’d use over and over again in a Tarzan voice. Me Tarzan … You Jane …  Eat Meat … Dress Well …

Or not … whatever.
Just look
