Wall Art

The Bestest and I went walk-abouts in Hillcrest on Saturday morning to kill some time while we waited to meet the dressmaker. Strolling from shop to shop around the Heritage Market and surrounds, we decided to pop into Wetherleys because neither of us had been in there for yonks.

What a shit hole. Seriously. I now remember why I never pop in there, and it’s not just because I can’t afford anything. The place is an absolute mess. Things are broken and left lying desecrated in the cobweb filled corners. And the further into the store you go, the more shit-hole-ish it becomes. It looks like they’re half way through packing up and moving out. Things are half unwrapped, mirrors are cracked, teddy bears lie with their faces up each others bums and to say that it’s a décor maze is a little bit of an understatement. What a sad sad store. Poor Wetherly’s Hillcrest.

But on the up side, I did manage to take some snaps of these gorgeous pencil wall drawings in the kiddies section. Pity they're tucked away in the dingy poepal of the store.

sorry for the terrible quality pics - I'm working on the fee-arn-say to get me an iPhone

Con Amore

I need a camera.
A nice little hand held jobbie that I can pop into my handbag, so that if the need arises, and I happen to be, say, in a store like the delightful Con Amore … I’d be able to take some pictures and show you what a fabulous time I had there last Thursday night at the Durban Bloggers Evening.

But I don’t have a nice little hand held jobbie. So I’ll send you to someone who does, and who took some great pics on the night. Check it out here

It was really cool evening spent mingling with fellow bloggers, putting faces to names, and devouring some seriously delicious macaroons, cupcakes, sushi and of course some bubbly – which, if you ask me, should be the staples for any social gathering these days.

Thanks to Candice Cochrane from Con Amore for organising the fabulous shindig and for my little take home treat. I’ll be sure to continue popping in whenever I walk past – which is often - and will scream from the roof tops about the upcoming sample sale next week. Although ... I'm reluctant to share.

Watch this space peeps!

In the meantime, bear with me as I cheat and steal some pics from conamorehome.com. I just want to show you how fabulous their stuff is.

I’ve never bought a single item of clothing online. Not even from the Thrift Collection.
But I’ve got a friend who does it religiously. And she’s so good at it too.
Actually, come to think of it, all of the girls at Book Club are seriously Lipsy-Crazy. And I don’t blame them … the dresses are stunning, especially the Pixie Lott Collection But these chicks know how to work it in style: they get the best sale items, they know where to look, what sizes work for them and how to get them delivered on time, to the right address, and with the right goodies inside the parcel.

I’m too much of a chicken to trust the www with my hard earned buckaroos.
How lame am I? Seriously.

So I’ve gone in search of my very own Lipsy – for fear of rocking up at Book Club in the same get-up as he next girl – and am going to buy something online here
Adventurous! I know!
I have no clue on sizes or anything like that, but a little bit of investigating into the website, I’m sure I’ll be able to figure out whether I’m an American 10, a European 12 or an Australia 32. Aren’t these La Boutique dresses really gorgeous though?

Don’t tell the fee-arn-say … we’re menat to be saving for a wedding!

I’ve finally finished designing our Save The Date e-vite.
Oooh, so exciting. There are 3 versions, with 3 different sayings, so not everyone will get the same invite.
What do you think?

Now all I need to do is rob a bank so I can invite all of my friends.

And today’s non-award for the worst shoes, like, EVER … go to these three beauts.

Oh dear folks.
It looks like we’ve been duped!
Thanks to anonymous from the original post, I did some gooni-googling to see for myself, and here they are: the original disney characters in all their blonde haired, red dressed glory :O) CAn;t believe we didn't see it before. Ha ha ha. Oh well, it was worth the laugh in any case.
Cheers to Photoshop.

Thought Of You

Another beautiful piece of inspiration from the photographer.
Illustration animation by Ryan Woodward - the same crayon monkey behind Where The Wild Things Are, Powderpuff Girls The Movie, Space Jam and Iron Man 2
I just love the song he uses here, and the illustrations are so magical and simple and it makes me want to learn how to draw. For real.

I’ve been working this weekend.
Oh the joys of the advertising industry. But I’m quite chuffed with myself – given the powerful lure of the glorious weather outside – so I treated myself to half an hour browsing (and swiping) on the wonderful website: In Good Company.

I got a R50 discount email voucher from In Good Company last week and I most certainly put it to use. Check out these pretty hanging Paper Daisies.

If you want a R50 discount on your next purchase of awesome crafty goodies and pretty things, just let me know.  Moenie stress nie ... It's perfectly legal ... the voucher is meant to be forwarded on.

Let me know.

Happy Sunday

Good grief … isn’t it absolutely bizarre how life imitates art.
Or in this case, a classic fairy tale story.
Giggle.

Coldplay you make my heart go giddy-up

Kings Of Leon Who?

Since the release of their debut album Parachutes in 2000, yellow not only became my favourite colour but my favourite song too. And thanks to Chris “Kissable Lips” Martin, I’ve always maintained that my life will remain totally and 100 percent unfulfilled until the day I got to see Coldplay LIVE in concert. What I really hoped for was for the fee-arn-say to fly me to London, take me to a Coldplay concert in Hyde Park and get Chris Martin to pull me on stage (passionately kissing me as he did so) and then propose to me on the fee-arn-says behalf. But that never happened.

So a rocking concert at the FNB Stadium in Soweto will just have to do!!!!!

When I say I’m so excited I don’t actually know what to do with myself, I seriously mean it. I’m like a nervous wreck on a sickening sugar high. We’ve already booked our return flights to JHB – sans concert tickets, which only go on sale on Thursday at 9am.  But I am NOT missing out on this one.

As far as I’m concerned, The Kings of Leon can kiss my hairy white bum because my first best, most ultimate, favouritist, super awesome, I-would-do-anything-in-the-world-to-see-them band ... are coming to town.

I think I’m having a panic attack right now.

p.s chris martin … if you want me to ... I will have your babies. I promise.

p.s.s read up about it here

p.s.s.s GET EXCITED!

Ok so the delicious sounding brownie recipe goes a little something like this …

I wish I could say that I had as much luck with my brownies as Lorraine did.
I think it's a sign I should start paying attention to.
Unless it’s to make popcorn or wash the dishes, I strongly advise myself to stay out of the kitchen.

I will give myself some credit though. My scale has disappeared so I measured the castor sugar with my eyes. And they do look dam good. Sadly though … I tried one with my morning coffee and it tastes too much like raw egg (which I despise) so the first person to comment on this post wins a sweetly packaged box of wheat-free peanut butter brownies. Go!

Just kidding.
The Fee-Arn-Say will eat them. He knows better than to be honest with me about how they really taste.

So it’s time to bin (laden) Mr No-Grass-Man.

Yes folks, today is a very sad day. But I’m afraid to say it was bound to happen.  Right from the very start of it all, I struggled to get so much as a green nose hair out of this little dude. Eventually after 2 weeks we got some form of growth – which if you ask me – was merely a tease. Because after this post …. Nothing else grew.

No wait, that’s not entirely true.
We do have some growth. But it’s not green, it’s off-blue, and it’s fluffy and commonly known as mould!

I follow a great foodie blog called the London Food Police.
While the posts are a bit sporadic – I guess that happens when you’re a hot shot working for Coca Cola in the big smoke of London – they’re flipping witty and entertaining, And they’ve got little bits and pieces of really interesting information. Like this week’s post, which led me to Lorraine Pascale.

Ever heard of her?
Nope me neither.
But now I’m glad I have.

I’ve just jotted down one of her incredible sounding, delicious looking recipes for yummy and guilt-free peanut butter brownies. I mean HELLO!!!! Perfect for all you wheat- and gluten-free freaks out there: like me!
I’m going to attempt it tonight. Will let you know if it comes out looking anything like this:
